What can I say and how do I start? This past weekend was really great on many levels. First for seeing family and old friends again. Plus making new ones at the comic con. Above are some pics to help me tell the story in order.
First I met with my buddy from Bardel Myron. He's doing great in the prairies and we talked for some time. Great chatting again Myron ( you too Logan ).
Next day was the convention and my lovely wife Gin and I waited in line for a bit ( could have been worse ). I ran into Jenn first. It was good seeing her again and I wish we had more time to talk. My heart was going pretty good by the time I was there so I apologize Jenn if I seemed a little "out there".
Next I met with Jose Lopez. We talked a bit about art and the industry and I said I would return so I continued and met with Robin Mitchell and Alberto Ruiz. It was great putting faces to these names finally and I wish I had more time to pick their brains.
I continued and met with Bobby Chiu and Kei Acedera. What can I say about their work? Let me move on and I'll comment on work in a bit cause I loved all these guys' stuff. I next met with Patrick Morgan and David Colman. Talked a bit there too and was really impressed with the friendliness.
I last but not least went around and met with Stephen Silver. A self taught art juggernaut. I had to wait at most of these booths to speak to these guys due to the line ups. It was great. I then did end up meeting Octavio Rodriguez momentarily and introduced myself. His work kicks butt too and too bad I never got a photo with him. Next time Octavio!
All of the work I saw at these booths mentioned was and is so well done. I picked up a few books to stay pumped. Your guys' work has motivated me for some time, but now it's on a new level I feel. It has been a kick start to push what I loved in the beginning. Drawing. Conceptualizing. Designing. You all were super friendly, and the critiques I received from David and Bobby I've engraved in my brain. Valuable stuff. Cheers to you guys and to my wife ( who helped me carry so much and is such a support to me ) for making my first comic con such a great memory and an inspirational catalyst.
